Task Force Recommends Obesity Screening for Children & Adolescents
News brief at HealthyChildren.org reports on a recommendation of the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force to have clinicians screen children ages 6 to 18 years for obesity and refer them to programs to improve their weight status. This follows research indicating that intervention can have a significant impact.
Talk to your pediatrician. If your child needs assistance dealing with issues of being overweight or related health issues, such as diabetes, you may want to consider The Lipid Clinic from The Children's Medical Center of Dayton or contact the local Diabetes Association of the Dayton Area.
