Report: Trans Fat Limits Result in Healthier Foods

Posted on May 27, 2010

According to this AP story, researchers have confirmed that food manufacturers are not substituting equally unhealthy choices when removing trans fats.  That concern was voiced when the movement to replace trans fat took hold starting in 2006 when Fed regulations began requiring reporting of trans fats on food labels.   The report acknowledges there's still room for improvement, particularly for some items sold in supermarkets, which replaced heart-damaging trans fat with its unhealthy cousin, saturated fat.
