GetUp, Montgomery County is rooted in the vision of Public Health Commissioner Jim Gross, with the dedicated support of many, including Assistant Health Commissioner Jeffrey A. Cooper.
Joining Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County as key members of the strategic GetUp Hub are:
- CareSource, a locally-headquartered, public-sector health care management services company and the nation’s fourth largest Medicaid managed care plan. The CareSource Foundation is a recognized leader and visionary in advancing the health and well-being of underserved people. President/CEO Pam Morris and Foundation Executive Director Cathy Ponitz offered CareSource’s largest Signature grant ever to support the GetUp mission to reduce childhood obesity and have played a vital role in launching the initiative;
- The Children’s Medical Center of Dayton, devoted to the health, safety and information needs of children and their families throughout the region. President/CEO David Kinsaul, Vice President of Marketing & External Relations Vicki Giambrone and Assistant Community Relations Manager Jessica Saunders have lent their time and valuable expertise to the GetUp initiative;
- Montgomery County Commission, which includes in its strategic plan the goal to ensure our community effectively protects and supports children, seniors and families. Montgomery County’s Family and Children First Council (FCFC) helped approve Human Services Levy funding to establish GetUp for its first two years. County Commissioner Judy Dodge has been a staunch supporter and part of the GetUp strategic Hub from its earliest days.
- Wright State Center for Healthy Communities, a community-academic partnership committed to improving the health and well-being of the community, educating its health professionals and serving as a force for change. Dr. Gary LeRoy, WSU Boonshoft School of Medicine and member of the Board of Public Health and FCFC Healthy People Outcomes Team, joins WSU Wellness Matters associate professor and program facilitator Bill Spears in being committed to helping GetUp make a measurable difference in our neighborhoods and with our local children.
